| Ministry Teams
ASAPROSAR: Provides information and opportunities for members and friends to be involved in supporting the ASAPROSAR ministry to impoverished children and families in El Salvador.
Adult Christian Education: Develops and oversees the adult Christian education curriculum and programming.
Church School: Selects, develops and implements the children’s Christian education curriculum, and plans the monthly Children’s Worship service.
Coffee & Greeters: Organizes and schedules people to greet parishioners and prepare coffee fellowship for those who gather to worship.
Deacons: Tends to the sacramental concerns of the church (assists with communion and baptism), and prays both for and with those in need of prayer. Oversees the Prayer Partners ministry. Currently developing a ministry of visitation.
Fellowship: Sponsors and organizes several church-wide fellowship events each year, with the goal of improving the sense of community and connectedness among members.
Flowers: Arranges for flowers "in honor or memory of" to be displayed on the altar to enhance our worship space.
Gifts and Call: Helps individuals discern their unique gifts and call on the journey toward living our lives as ministry in God’s world.
Health Awareness: Raises awareness of personal health issues, and provides occasional opportunities to enhance personal health.
Marketing: Promotes the programs and ministries of our church to the wider community through various media, including collateral material, newspaper advertising, and the internet.
Membership Development: Invites and welcomes newcomers to UCC Norwell, encourages frequent visitors to consider membership, provides education (Inquirer’s Classes) about membership and involvement, and helps folks get connected once they make the commitment to become members.
Memorial Garden: Planned, laid out, and maintains UCC Norwell’s beautiful memorial garden. Provides information about the garden’s significance and encourages members to purchase stones in the garden.
Ministry of Caring: Responds to personal or family situations of need and/or crisis by praying for (and encouraging the congregation to pray for) folks and by activating a team of volunteers who provide meals and/or transportation. Distributes flowers to sick and shut-ins when appropriate. Sends cards to individuals listed in the weekly worship bulletin and to those in bereavement.
Mission & Outreach: Stewards and distributes a substantial budget of funds to various ministries of Christian witness and outreach, and facilitates opportunities for members and friends of UCC Norwell to be involved in hands-on mission and justice work.
Music: Supports and assists UCC Norwell’s Minister of Music in developing and implementing a quality and meaningful music program.
Prayerful Stitches: Knits or crochets shawls and baby blankets while praying for individuals in critical need of prayer; sends completed shawls to those individuals with cards of encouragement, support and prayer on behalf of the congregation.
Office Angels: Perform a variety of tasks such as helping in the Church Office, collating bulletins or Tidings, and helping with special projects.
Secret Intercessory Prayer Partners: Creatively manages a ministry in which individuals pray for their secret prayer partner for a year (while another person is praying for each of them). Secret prayer partners are revealed at a spring luncheon.
Sound Room: Staffs the sound room and tends to the acoustical dimensions of our worship services, producing tapes and CDs of the worship service for those who request them.
Stewardship: Educates and raises awareness and understanding of the meaning of Christian stewardship; makes members and friends aware of opportunities to contribute time, talent, and treasure in support of the ministries of UCC Norwell.
Trustees: Tends to the concerns of the church’s physical plant and grounds.
Ushers: Assists in welcoming and orienting visitors and all parishioners to worship, handing out bulletins, ushering folks to a seat, and collecting offerings during worship.
Youth: Provides meaningful community for youth from Middle School through High School (including 8th-grade Confirmation), while promoting Christian faith, understanding, and disciplines.
