The Monday, May 22nd Exploitation Response Training will be sponsored by the South Shore Interfaith Coalition Against Human Trafficking and will be held at UCC Norwell from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. upstairs in Fellowship Hall. The training is FREE and open to the public. Individuals, organizations, and members of interfaith communities are encouraged to attend.

The Exploitation Response Plan training will be conducted by Sarah Durfey Dunham, Director of the Abolitionist Network, Abolitionist Network, one of the organizations supported by the Emmanuel Gospel Center (EGC), is located at 2 San Juan Street, Boston, MA 02118. EGC is a Christian nonprofit organization that provides a variety of programs that offer support for local urban church organizations.  The Abolitionist Network is a network of Christians taking a leadership role in their church and/or ministries to better understand and abolish the systems of human trafficking.

“The Exploitation Response Plan prepares church communities to respond safely and effectively to someone asking for help out of a situation of exploitation and human trafficking. Participants are trained in three areas: Be a Safe Place, Assessment Tools, and Referral Resources. The training provides information about the impact of trauma and shame, triggers to watch out for, and how to create a safe space for conversation, how to ask helpful questions to assess need and how to make an appropriate referral, and receive a list of resources and material for next steps. The training will help churches know what to do if a victim of human trafficking walks through the doors of the church.”  Source: Exploitation Response Plan by The Abolitionist Network.
