Children's Church School

-A A +A

Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.’ Matthew 19:14

During these times of COVID-19, we are offering alternative learning opportunities for children.

During our virtual Sunday 10am worship, there is a Children's Message entitled Rev. Ashley's Neighborhood.

In addition, Faith at Home Kits are available each month.

Our Family Ministry Team creates Faith at Home kits with everything you need to support your family's prayer life at home. October's kit includes feature stickers, stress balls, and prayer cards. We can deliver these to you or you can pick them up at the monthly Play and Pray.

Also, two Wednesdays remain in our children's Outdoor Play and Pray time -- November 4 and December 9, with the new time to be announced soon.

We'll gather in the church parking lot (socially distanced) to play and pray together. Each family will have a parking space and we'll wear masks and practice social distancing while having a blast together and learning about Jesus' love!

Please register here for Kits and Play and Pray so we can plan in advance for social distancing. Details are included on the registration page. If you have additional questions, please email Rev. Ashley Popperson at apopperson@uccnorwell.org.

Following are our Non-COVID Program Year (mid-September to mid-June) offerings:

Our Children's Program Year Classes

Children's Church School meets Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. (at the same time as worship). It is a safe, Christ-centered, and inclusive program that recognizes children learn in many different ways: by doing, by association, through song, art, drama and even through science.

On the first Sunday of each month, we offer Holy Communion, and children are invited to sit with their family to join in Communion, and then proceed downstairs with their teachers to their classrooms.

Kindergarten through Grade 5

Children are divided into classes in which the lessons are taught using multi- sensory curriculum. The lessons are hands-on and connect a Biblical theme or story to the everyday experiences of the children. Our focus is on the relationship the children are developing with God through Jesus Christ. Our program mirrors some of ministries in our Church as we focus on mission and the wider world as we serve God in our lives.

During worship, supervised playtime is available for Pre-K children and the Crib Room staff cares for infants and toddlers. Our classes are structured to be developmentally age-appropriate.

Pre-Kindergarten

The curriculum is exciting and hands-on for high-energy children ages 2-5 years old who are not yet in Kindergarten. For many children, this class is their first experience of Church community and the teachings of our faith. The children learn about the Bible and Jesus and his teachings through singing, crafts, storytelling and more.
