It's easy to forget to read the Bible. We're used to hearing it read aloud to us in worship, but I find it sinks in differently when I'm just reading by myself. I like the practice of 'lectio divina' or reading it a few different times with different things in mind at each reading. I do that particularly when I'm preparing a sermon. I find sermon preparation challenging, though I tend to enjoy the delivery. Once I've prepared what I'll say, I like that feeling of knowing there's nothing more to be I just try to let God speak through me!

Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.
