A church family for your family.

Church School Sundays
during our program year

Our Church School and Children’s Programming runs concurrently with our 10am worship. We seek to support you in nurturing your children's faith and relationship with Jesus.

Our programs are rooted in exploring the Bible and empowering children to find their place in God's story. Through prayer, worship, play, and hands-on service, our children come to know the unfailing love of God and cultivate a personal relationship with Jesus.

Crib Room and Church School

During our program year (mid-September through mid-June), we provide Sunday morning care and Church School
for children and youth 6 months of age through 7th grade.

The youngest children (age 6 months-3 years old) will be cared for in our Crib Room by dedicated staff and volunteers. You can drop them off before 10am worship.

Our younger children will engage in Montessori-style learning, based on stories from "Growing in God's Love: A Story Bible." Throughout the year, the class will read the Bible from start to finish, engaging the stories in age-appropriate, joyful ways.

Our older youth will continue using the "Follow Me" curriculum, based on the practices and teachings of Jesus. Our first session includes "Make Peace" and "Honor God's Diversity.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Children’s and Family Minister, Jenny Healy.

 Typical Children’s Programming

We offer fun, engaging Christian Formation programming for children Pre-K through Middle School. Children's Church School meets Sunday mornings at 10am (at the same time as worship). Our Church School classes are held in rooms equipped with HEPA air filters.

During a typical program year, children start with their families in the sanctuary for the beginning of the worship service. Early in the service, following the Children's Message, they are dismissed to their Church School classrooms. On the first Sunday of the month, children begin downstairs for Children’s Chapel, a special worship service designed with kids in mind. They transition back to the sanctuary to share in Holy Communion with their families.

Our Church School classes are run by dedicated, paid teachers and staffed with additional church volunteers. All staff and volunteers complete annual background checks and are trained in our Safe Church policies. Using curriculum and resources consistent with our inclusive, biblically-based theology, our church school seeks to nurture the Christian faith of children through storytelling, engaging activities, and intergenerational community.

While even the youngest among us are welcome to join in worship with their family, child care is provided for infants and toddlers under three years old in our Crib Room. This safe, fun, and engaging environment allows the youngest to play and explore while parents share in the full worship experience. You may drop off your child(ren) in the Crib Room just before worship. Staff will communicate via cell phone if they need to contact you.

Children’s Chapel

On the first Sunday of each month, our children (PreK-4th Grade) will gather for Children's Chapel while the adults and teenagers worship in the sanctuary. Led by our our Children’s and Family Minister, Jenny Healy and our church school teachers, the children sing praise songs, listen to Bible stories, and engage in sacred play. This special child-centered worship service allows our children to be active participants in the joy of praise.

We hope you can join us for Vacation Bible Camp
in June 2024!

A highlight of our Children's Ministry at UCC Norwell is our annual Vacation Bible Camp (VBC) program. Each summer, our youth and adult volunteers garner their energy, joy, and faith to offer a week-long adventure in faith exploration for children ages Pre-K through Grade 5. We welcome all to join us at VBC — children who are regular participants in our church family as well as children from the wider community. We had a blast at our 2023 Vacation Bible Camp!

VACATION BIBLE CAMP 2024

Meet our Children’s and Family Minister, jenny Healy

jenny is a teacher and a student, a gardener and a bread baker, a quilter and a writer, a mum, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a disciple, a friend. While church was mostly absent from her life growing up, she always had this deep longing for and connection to Jesus. As an adult about to have her first child, jenny started going to church regularly. There, she found a spiritual home and the language to describe what she’d been feeling inside for so long.

Working with children has always been at the center of jenny’s heart, from her early babysitting days to college field work and summer jobs, to teaching at The Home for Little Wanderers and a paid position at her home church. jenny loves the hard questions, loves the mess, loves the connection building. jenny loves partnership with children as they explore the joys and responsibilities of being the hands and feet of Christ in this world and what it means to be God’s beloved, created in God’s image.

jenny loves this work, and she is honored to walk beside others all during this time.

Also, jenny loves berry picking, especially strawberries.
