Mission + Outreach

To serve without judgement the youngest in our community. A Baby Center supplements critical basic needs that ensure the good health and safety of babies who live on Cape Cod and the Islands. These services are provided at no cost to clients and without regard for religious preference or lack thereof

This ministry involves picking up bread and other food items from Stop & Shop in Norwell and Panera in Hanover and delivering it to Father Bill's in Quincy or MainSpring House in Brockton. Support our neighbors struggling with housing insecurity and minimize food waste in our community. Choose any week or commit to a once-a-month delivery

Friendship Home’s mission is to enrich the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families by providing quality respite care and support services in a safe and caring environment. The dream of creating Friendship Home began in 2004 when UCC Norwell donated the land on which Friendship Home was built and completed in 2010. Since then, UCC Norwell has supported Friendship Home with annual M+O grants and involvement in their programs.

FHSS provides supportive care and living facilities in the South Shore area of MA for families transitioning from homelessness and starting on a path towards self-sufficiency as a family unit. There is a home site in Norwell currently providing shelter for up to 15 families where we volunteer with days of service in the fall and spring. We support FHSS through grants, collections and volunteer activities at their sites.

Part of the Outreach Program, this organization hosts meal packaging events for all ages at their warehouse in Pembroke to help feed New Englanders facing food insecurity. When we partner with them for an event, UCC Norwell purchases and packages the food product for distribution at local food pantries. This is a great opportunity for families to volunteer together.

The Prison Book Program (PBP) provides free books to individual prisoners in the United States who otherwise have limited access to educational materials during incarceration. UCC Norwell serves as a donation site for the PBP, collecting excellent condition, high-quality paperback books (no dictionaries, please) in our back entryway on an ongoing basis.

We also volunteer on-site at PBP as part of our annual day of service in the fall, but you can sign up to volunteer on your own any time that suits your schedule - there are four sessions every week!

UCC Norwell founded the South Shore chapter of HFH in 1986, part of the ecumenical Christian-based volunteer-driven organization that builds homes in partnership with families in need. SSHH sells homes at cost with interest-free mortgages in 32 towns and cities south and southwest of Boston. Throughout the year our volunteers (16+ years old) put “Love into Action” by building homes and creating relationships.

Wellspring Multi Service Center has centers in Hull and Weymouth MA. Wellspring provides support and skills to people facing challenges to their well-beingand seeking to achieve independence and self sufficiency. Services include: adult education; counseling; housing assistance; advocacy; thrift shops; and a food pantry. We support Wellspring through grants and with food pantry donations.
