Uniting Against Christian Nationalism | Lunch + Learn

In a world where the lines between faith and politics often blur, it's crucial to confront movements like Christian Nationalism head-on. On April 7, a diverse group gathered at UCC Norwell to unpack the implications of Christian Nationalism in a discussion inspired by Rev. Dr. John Dorhauer's insightful talk from Elmhurst University. The event sparked a flurry of ideas and a shared sense of urgency to combat the rising threat of Christian Nationalism in the United States.

One of the key revelations of the discussion was the widespread lack of understanding about Christian Nationalism and its potential consequences. Many attendees confessed to being unfamiliar with the movement, highlighting the need for easily accessible resources to educate and inform. To address this gap, there were calls for a succinct definition of Christian Nationalism, a glossary of related terms, and access to the edited video of Dr. Dorhauer's talk to spread awareness far and wide.

Amidst the concern generated by the discussion, there was a palpable desire for actionable steps to counter Christian Nationalism. A few resources and future plans to learn more include:

Looking ahead, plans were set in motion for a screening of the documentary "God & Country" in May or June.

As action steps take shape, UCC Norwell emerges as a beacon of hope and unity against the divisive forces of Christian Nationalism. Through education, dialogue, and collective action, this coalition aims to foster a community rooted in justice, love, and inclusivity. By standing together, we can build a future where democracy and faith thrive, free from the shadows of extremism.
