Church Council: Meeting in a Minute | April 30, 2024

Church Council met on April 30, 2024. Several key points emerged, focusing on the proactive steps being taken to enhance engagement within our community and improve internal efficiency of our ministries. Here's a snapshot:

  • The New Nursery School: NNS Co-Directors Kim Foster and Sonia Kleimola shared valuable insights into their roles and the growth trajectory of NNS programming. The council approved the 2024-2024 budget (per the recommendation of Finance Committee), which includes pay increases for NNS staff, recognizing their dedication and contribution to our community.

  • Trello Workspace: Council is gearing up to adopt Trello Worskspaces as a platform for quarterly updates on progress towards the strategic plan. This initiative aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in communication. Staff will also utilize this tool in implementing the strategic plan and collaborating on other action items.

  • Digital Engagement: A compelling proposal was discussed to cultivate a culture of digital engagement within our community. There's an upcoming session planned to brainstorm ideas and strategies for enhancing our social media presence. Please reach out to Cara Hamilton (carafenner@gmail.com) if you have any interest or ideas.

    • Looking ahead, there’s a tangible plan for Council to compile a list of "5 things you can do digitally" to elevate our social media profile.

  • AP Search Committee: Leanne extended a heartfelt thank you to the Associate Pastor Search Committee for their dedication and efforts in the search process. The congregation looks forward to welcoming Rev. Peter Strobel and his wife Allie Strobel into the UCCN fold in July! Between now and then, Peter will be in communication with Jenny Healy and Bob Caldeira to prepare for the 2024/2025 program year.

  • Financial Update: John Dawson provided a comprehensive update on current financials and shared the Treasurer’s Report.

  • Linden Ponds Pastor Search: On behalf of Doug Holley, chair of the Linden Ponds Community Church Pastoral Search Committee, Moderator Cara Hamilton provided an update on the search process. The profile is nearing finalization and will sent to the conference for review and approval within the week. Rev. Deb Spratley will be retiring in January 2025.

Please note, these are not official meeting minutes. These are highlights intended to inform and emphasize the collaborative spirit driving our church community forward in an inclusive manner. The next Church Council meeting is scheduled for May 28, 2024 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm in the library. Keep an eye out for future meeting updates, briefly!
