"Joyful Fellowship" quilted banner

When you look around the sanctuary, you will notice a new quilted banner hanging in addition to the Christmas decorations. “Joyful Fellowship” is the second such banner created by Frances Cridlebaugh Stone in 1994. Cridlebaugh Stone was born July 13, 1933 in Eureka, CA and lived much of her life in western Pennsylvania before passing away December 13, 2024 in Youngstown, OH. A prolific multimedia artist; she dedicated much of her gifting to making ecclesiastical banners such as this one for individual churches and conferences. She believed that church artwork should gratify all who come through the doors, from the youngest to the oldest viewer; and used bold shapes and color to draw the eye and inspire the mind. The banner is gifted to UCC Norwell for long-term display by the artist’s granddaughter, Lorenda Layne.
