Memorial Garden
Located on the front lawn of UCC Norwell, the Memorial Garden provides a burial place for the cremated remains of deceased loved ones. Cremation is an accepted practice of the Christian faith and is consistent with the beliefs and practice of UCC Norwell. Our Memorial Garden serves as a place of contemplation and beauty for family members to visit, and it also serves as a constant reminder of the saints who have gone before us in the faith.
Who may be interred
Because we believe that God welcomes all who enter this world and welcomes all who leave it, all are welcome to have their cremated remains placed in the Memorial Garden. No interment shall be made without the permission of the Memorial Garden Ministry Team and the Pastor. In addition, families have the option of memorializing a loved one in the Garden even though the ashes are not buried there—the person’s name and dates may be included on a permanent marker in the Garden.
Enrollment
The scheduling of memorial services and interment is made with our pastors. The Pastors shall refer family members to the Chair of the Ministry Team to make all necessary arrangements for the interment, including the engraving of the names and dates. A Memorial Garden application form must be filed.
To purchase a plot in the Memorial Garden, please complete the Memorial Garden online application form. Upon receipt of your application, the church office will contact you with more information about payment and fees.
