UCC Norwell is a Just Peace Covenant Congregation which calls for us to address systemic injustice using non-violence and Just Peace practices. This Ministry Team leads the congregation in embodying our commitment to being an anti-racist church through investing in training, education, and development; engaging ministry teams in evaluation and action plans; cultivating a bold, Christian witness; and developing and nurturing partnerships.

This ministry team works with the neediest families in El Salvador through health care, youth leadership training, environmental and nutritional education, microcredit, and community development. Priority is given to women, children, and youth in rural and marginalized urban settings. Annually, volunteers from UCC Norwell travel to El Salvador and participate in the programs of ASAPROSAR. The trip is usually a week in duration and designed with with the participants in mind.

The focus of Mission and Outreach (M&O) at UCC Norwell is to reach beyond the walls of the church, to serve the needs of God’s people. We strive to engage the congregation and the community by supporting hands on activities and by providing financial support from our operating budget. We respond to Christ’s call to “Care for my people.”

The Community Engagement Ministry Team meets regularly to consider requests to assist in the creation of transformative ministries on the South Shore. There must be a direct connection to at least two members of UCC Norwell, and two or more people from our South Shore community must be committed to the ministry in order for funds to be released.
