THIS is Christianity | Confronting bigotry through love and inclusion

In 2024, members of UCC Norwell, together with partners from First Congregational Church of DeKalb (IL) and First Church of Williamstown (MA), began meeting to discern how Christians and churches might faithfully respond to the rise of Christian Nationalism. That work led to the formation of a new non-profit, Advocates for Love and Religious Freedom (ALRF).

ALRF’s first initiative, THIS is Christianity, is a movement that bears witness to the gospel of love and inclusion while confronting all forms of exclusion and bigotry presented as Christianity. The organization offers resources and toolkits to equip churches for this work on their website.

Please take time to read a letter from Carl Isihara and Jack Spurr, co-chairs of our Racial and Social Justice Ministry Team and founding leaders of ALRF, and learn how you can get involved.
