Mission accomplished: Another successful year for Cards on a Mission
When Brenda Stewart was inspired in 2021 while painting Spanish sunflowers in her garden, little did she know the impact she and many others would make with what became known as Cards on a Mission (COAM). After printing cards with her painting on the front and attaching a packet of seeds, Brenda sold the cards with proceeds supporting the church’s ASAPROSAR mission in El Salvador. The church’s Community Engagement Fund donated the seed money to grow the ministry in 2022, and COAM was off and running!
Fast forward to the 2025-26 program year. Cards sold after worship during the year featured 50 new images created by 13 artists and photographers in our church family – dabblers, busy amateurs, and professionals alike. And as she has done since COAM’s inception, resident poet Kathryn Patch contributed beautiful original verses to include in the cards.
From September 2025 to June 2026, COAM raised $2,400 donated to eight organizations supported by UCCN’s Mission + Outreach ministry team:
Church World Services / Blanket Sunday (Mother’s Day) and Tools of Hope (Father’s Day)
Each card purchased includes information about the mission being supported that month. This year’s proceeds raised total donations since the inception of COAM to $6,525 – one $5 card at a time.
Cards not purchased at the end of the program year are donated to the church’s Ministry of Caring or to member Ann Finnie’s personal card-writing ministry.
