All cards are blank on the inside—but any card can be made even more special by selecting a beautifully written verse provided by our very own Kathryn Patch.
Stop by our table on the second Sunday of each month, chat with the artists, and for a donation of $5 you can give someone you care about a unique card not found in any store!
How did Cards on a Mission start?
The idea for Cards on a Mission sparked in 2021 as church member Brenda was painting Spanish Sunflowers from her own garden. An abundance of collected seeds led her to an innovative concept: printing images of the sunflowers onto cards and attaching a packet of the seeds.
Brenda decided to sell the cards, with the proceeds supporting the church's ASAPROSAR mission in El Salvador. The initial sale was a resounding success, which became Cards on a Mission’s first donation to ASAPROSAR.
Encouraged by the community's positive reception, Brenda invited others to join the effort. The team quickly grew, with Alex contributing the perfect name: Cards on a Mission. Additionally, Alex's mother, Kathryn, added to the project by sharing her original, beautiful verses to include on the cards.
The role CEF played in Cards on a Mission
Cards on a Mission received support from many places, including the Community Engagement Fund, which provided initial funding for start-up costs. This investment helped solidify the organization's foundation, which is built on the principle of using one’s God-given gifts to further God's Kingdom. The hope is that others will be inspired by this model to utilize the Community Engagement Fund as seed money to discover and put their own gifts to use for God's glory.
To date, Cards on a Mission has supported a diverse array of missions, raising just over $5,000 for the following organizations:
Rose Conservatory
Jou Nouvo
Outreach Uganda
Ukraine support through CWS
The Baby Center
The Outdoor Church
Wellspring MultiService Center
Friendship Home
Jasmine Grace Outreach
South Shore Habitat for Humanity
Church World Service (through the Blankets for Hope and Tools of Hope programs)
From a simple idea inspired by garden sunflowers, Cards on a Mission has grown into a powerful vehicle for community engagement and charitable giving.
