The Pumpkins are Here!

On Sunday, September 27, following the annual “Ministry Team Fair” and despite less-than-ideal weather conditions from the multi-day Nor’easter, a group of approximately 30 hardy adults/teens/children unloaded and staged 22,000 pounds of pumpkins and gourds arriving in Norwell in a huge trailer from northern New Mexico.  The great UCC Norwell “Pumpkin Patch” is almost ready to open for sale!

This is the fourth year that UCC Norwell has sponsored the pumpkin sale which benefits both the growers in northern New Mexico (including many Native American farmers), as well as UCC Norwell.  The church’s front lawn, adorned with pumpkins and gourds of all shapes and sizes, creates an eye-catching display and a charming photo backdrop. It draws visitors and passersby, all of whose purchases help support UCC Norwell, while introducing them to our church.

Thanks to the great group of volunteers that unloaded the hundreds of pumpkins in just 2 hours with assembly-line precision.  The Holy Spirit was definitely at work, holding off the wind and rain during the unloading/staging process, and a fun time was had by all!
