UCC Norwell Church Council Meeting | January 8, 2026
UCC Norwell financial update
2025 year-end: While operational expenses were higher than anticipated—leading to a $34k deficit and a transfer from the contingency fund—the church remains on solid footing.
2026 outlook: The 2026 budget is designed to be extremely conservative, with no anticipated deficit or need for contingency transfers.
Congregational commitment: Pledges for 2026 are already 6% over what was budgeted, a wonderful testament to the dedication and generosity of our congregation.
Investment strategy: The Investment Committee uses a three-year review to determine returns; for 2025, the percentage taken will be 5%.
Linden Ponds Community Church (LPCC)
The council noted that Linden Ponds ran at a deficit this past year. As per their standard procedure, a transfer from the Opportunity Fund was made to balance their accounts.
The New Nursery School (NNS)
The school is currently in a "growth state" and is financially very sound, operating with a significant surplus.
To ensure continued transparency and accuracy, a forensic accounting of the school's operating costs will be conducted in 2026.
Appreciation for service
The Council expressed deep gratitude for the exceptional service and commitment to financial transparency provided by our accounting support, ensuring the congregation stays well-informed about where resources are directed.
Next Council meeting: Tuesday, February 24, 2026 – UCC Norwell Library.
