UCC Norwell financial update
Snow removal and heating expenses this winter are expected to have a significant impact on this year’s budget. However, a line item was built in as a cushion for these items.
Building & Grounds Ministry Team continue to explore energy-efficient HVAC options. Members have met with Mass Save. Currently, Atlantic Pratt is working on a plan and quote for a new HVAC system.
Linden Ponds Community Church (LPCC)
The Linden Ponds ministry remains stable and is doing well.
The New Nursery School (NNS)
The Nursery School is fully enrolled and continues to perform well.
Council orientation
Moderator and leadership roles
Moderator-Elect, Ed Mosel will focus on strengthening relationships between the Council and the various Ministry Teams to deepen Council’s understanding of their work.
As Past Moderator, Andy Schlosser will:
Chair the Finance Committee
Assist in mentoring and supporting Meg Clapp as Moderator
Council engagement
Meg reviewed expectations for Council members, emphasizing the importance of bringing congregational concerns forward so that the Council can address issues collaboratively.
Church Center and communication tools
Reviewed the use of Church Center, Council members are encouraged to utilize the app and the Council page as central tools for communication and collaboration.
The Resources tab includes important documents for Council members.
Reviewed the use of Trello, which supports tracking progress on the church’s Strategic Plan initiatives.
Goals for the year
Develop a complete online photo church directory on Church Center.
Develop a more robust adult small group ministry.
Fellowship and relationship building for parents and families: Programs such as Coffee and Devotionals and Pray and Play have shown early success.
HVAC upgrades and solar exploration: A recent bequest will help support this effort, and a team is currently working on the project.
Leadership development for youth and family ministries: Continued efforts are underway to engage additional volunteers and leaders.
New property and building signage: The goal is to increase visibility within the community. Interior signage has been approved and will be installed in the coming months. Exterior signage improvements are also planned. A new front sign has been approved by the Town.
GBIO House Meetings: Support the GBIO Core Team in conducting ten house meetings with church members and developing an action plan based on those conversations.
THIS is Christianity partnership: The church will partner with THIS is Christianity to build relationships with local organizations and leaders in order to create coordinated community responses. More information will be shared in future meetings.
Church directory Task Force
Council voted to appoint a Church Directory Task Force to meet around the following mandate:
Clarify security and who can be in the directory
Increase active involvement in Church Center
Increase the number of profiles and photos
Define metrics to measure success
Encourage members to complete profiles
